TYPES OF PLASTIC for Golf Discs
Golf discs come in many different plastics... from Standard to Supreme. The differenece are in durability and grip.
Standard plastic discs are affordably priced and provide an excellent grip in a variety of weather situations. As they are used over time, DX discs eventually take on new and varied flight characteristics. Many top pros carry several DX discs of their favorite models to provide different flight patterns for different situations. Examples of standard plastic are: Innova DX, Discraft Pro-D, Lightning Standard, Gateway "S" .
Elite plastic is a mid-grade plastic that is noticeably more durable, grippier and longer lasting than the standard plastics... Golf discs in the Elite plastic are generally a couple dollars more than the standard plastics but last approximately 2-4X as long. Examples of Elite plastic: Innova ProLine, Discraft Elite X, Lightning Prostyle, Gateway "H" and Millennium.
Premium plastic is considered the most durable and longest lasting of all of the plastics. Discs in this plastic will typically last 5-10 times longer than standard plastic golf discs. The sleek finish on this plastic tends to give golf discs more speed and can make some more overstable. They are by far the most resistant to scuff damage and most structurally sound of the plastics. Examples of Premium plastic: Innova Champion, Discraft Z, Millennium Quantum, Gateway "E", DGA ProLine
